Picadillo Cubano (Cuban Ground Beef)
Cuban Picadillo is a traditional, flavorful ground beef dish cooked with sofrito, tomatoes, and warm spices. This version is simple, versatile, and perfect for meal prep. It’s not just for rice—it works beautifully in tacos, shepherd’s pie, empanadas, and stuffed potato balls.
INGREDIENTS
- 1.25 lb ground beef
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 large onion, diced
- 1/2 green pepper, diced
- 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes
- 1 (15 oz) can water (use the tomato can)
- 2 tbsp Cuban Adobo
- 2 tbsp Cuban Beans Blend seasoning
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp chopped cilantro (optiona

DIRECTIONS
1. In a large skillet or pot over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned.
2. Drain and discard excess fat, then return the beef to the pot.
3. Add olive oil, garlic, onion, and green pepper. Cook for 5–7 minutes until soft and fragrant.
4. Stir in diced tomatoes, 1 can (15 oz) of water and diced potatoes if using. Mix well.
5. Add Cuban Adobo and Cuban Beans Blend seasoning. Stir everything together.
6. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thick and flavorful.
7. Stir in cilantro (if using). Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
